Duct sealing system RDSSCable conduit seals clean, fast and easy to install
Easy to use - versatile application possibilities
The Rayflate system RDSS, consists of a flexible plastic laminate bladder, which is coated on both sides with sealant strips. After coating the sealant strips with a lubricant these are simply wrapped around the cable and slid into the duct. A handy inflation tool is used to fill the bladder with gas to a pressure of 3 bar so that the sealant is pressed against the inside of the duct as well as the cable sheath. After removal of the inflation hose the automatic gel valve system prevents loss of pressure. Even in confined spaces the entire installation takes just a few minutes to complete.
Since the RDSS sealing element automatically adjusts to various configurations, even deformed ducting can be reliably sealed. Each product size covers a wide range of duct and cable diameters. Depending on the duct diameter empty conduits and ducts with up to two cables can be sealed easily. For sealing three or more cables, only one additional clip (RDSS-CLIP) should be fitted between the cables. The high-temperature-resistant sealing compound of the clip reliably fills all cable interstices. Even cables of different diameters can be freely combined.
For new and subsequent installations
The cuff concept allows installation both during and after laying of cables.
Even with existing wetness the RDSS seals reliably and saves laborious drainage.
Quick and easy to disassemble
Without inflicting any damage to the ducting, RDSS seals can be easily removed once the filling gas has been drained. Replacement or the later addition of cables is therefore possible without any problems and pipe penetrations can be sealed repeatedly.
Environmentally friendly - no resin, no hazardous waste
The installation of RDSS-sealing elements does not require mixing or filling of liquids, and the associated hazards and expensive disposal costs are eliminated. Demounted RDSS-sealing elements can be put in household waste (MSW). No polluting substances are released in landfill sites or incinerators. Lubricant residues can be flushed away with normal waste water, empty gas capsules and lubricant containers can be disposed of in scrap metal or PE/PP material containers and thus be recycled.
Exceptionally rugged and absolutely leak-proof
Intensive tests at room temperature confirm water and air tightness of RDSS-sealing elements at an applied pressure of more than 0.3 bar, even with the cables under strain from vibration, bending, torsion, tension or jolting. They have also passed tests for chemical and bacterial resistance.
Especially with regard to the use with high voltage cables the RDSS system also withstood load change tests when subjected to conductor temperatures of 90°C on the basis of VDE 0278 part 1. These tests also showed water and gas tightness at a pressure of 0.3 bar for single and multiple occupancy of ducting.
RDSS-Sealing Systems can still withstand a 3 m water column after an average of 30 years assuming the typical RU-day duty cycle with an average ambient temperature of 25 °C.
Inflation tools for a quick and easy assembly
RDSS-sealing elements can be installed with our inflation tools, which guarantee an inflation of 3.0 bar ± 0.2. Both tools are equipped with pressure gauge and pressure limiters:
Determine cable or cable bundle diameter
Each RDSS-sealing element can be used for duct occupancy of one or two cables. The smaller models up to RDSS-125 can also be used for empty conduits.
- If additional clips RDSS-CLIP are used ducts with occupancy of three or four cables can be sealed.
- The use of two clips RDSS-CLIP enables the sealing of 5-7 cables.
To determine the max. diameter (D) of the cable bundle subtract 5mm for every additional clip used from the maximum diameter indicated in the table below.
